The NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship has become one of the premiere poker events of the year, not only because of its unique format, but also because of its exclusive field of players. Nearly of all the 64 seats are filled by invited competitors that include seasoned pros and the year’s hottest players. Caesars Palace in Las Vegas is offering the only seat offered to the public that can be won in a live satellite.

On Feb. 17, a $500 buy-in no-limit hold’em satellite will take place at 2 p.m. One exclusive seat will be awarded to the winner, who will get the chance of a lifetime to compete heads up against the world’s best players in a televised event. Single-table satellites for as low as $65 start Feb. 1 and will run daily starting at 9 a.m.

Last year, poker pro Marco Traniello won the Caesars qualifier which was a $200 rebuy tournament. He competed in the 2007 event, which boasted a star-studded field that included his wife Jennifer Harman. Unfortunately for him, he was eliminated in the first round.
