Day 3 of the European Poker Tour PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) will be played today at the Atlantis Resort and Casino in the Bahamas. There are 153 players remaining, and 120 of them will walk away with a payday. With thEric 'Rizen' Lynche money bubble looming large early in play, this will be one of the most hotly contested days of the tournament. The PCA drew a record field this year, 1,136 players, which created a prize pool worth $8,594,976 and a first-place prize of $2 million.

After the money bubble bursts, action will continue until the final 40 are reached today. Many of poker’s elite are still in contention, including the chip leader at the start of day 3. Eric “Rizen” Lynch leads the field with 526,900. He is followed by Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, who holds 435,000, and Peter “Apathy” Jetten, who rounds out the top three with 401,800. Grospellier spent much of the day at the top of the leader board, while Lynch made a push to overtake him late in the day. Lynch picked up a large pot during the closing minutes of day 2, with two kings in the hole, to take the top spot on the leader board. Lynch will look to retain that Daniel Negreanuking-of-the-mountain status today. Other notable players that are still in the hunt include: Jon Friedberg (372,700), David “The Dragon” Pham (291,200), Hevad “Rain” Khan (230,800), Victor Ramdin (149,600), and Barry Greenstein (115,000). The average stack sits at 150,000 heading into day-3 action.

Day 2 was especially hard on many familiar faces from the poker world, and a large number of them made an exit during the day. Here are some of the notable day-2 eliminations: Daniel Negreanu, Isabelle Mercier, Noah Boeken, 2006 PCA champion Steve-Paul Ambrose, Major League Baseball pitcher David Wells, Josh Arieh, John “The Razor” Phan, Bill Edler, and Chris Moneymaker.

The action in the Bahamas will continue to rage on for the next three days, and the final table of this event will be played on Thursday, Jan. 10. Action at the final table will begin at 10 a.m. Eastern time.
