The Aussie Millions AUD $10,000 main event was won by 21-year-old Russian Alexander Kostritsyn, who outlasted Full Tilt pro Erik Seidel to win AUD $1.65 million. This tournament had 780 entrants and took place all last week at the Crown Casino in Melbourne.

The heads-up match between the young poker player and the older, more experienced Seidel went on for nearly two hours. Seidel still earned AUD $1 million for nearly winning the event.

The order of the finish of the seven players at the final table follows (all payouts in AUD):

  • Alexander Kostritsyn -- $1,650,000
  • Erik Seidel -- $1,000,000
  • Michael Chrisanthopoulos -- $700,000
  • Peter Ling -- $500,000
  • Nino Marotta -- $400,000
  • Antonio Casale -- $300,000
  • Peter Mobbs -- $225,000

Both Kostritsyn and Seidel came into the final table with about the same number of chips (around 1.4 million). In fact, everyone who came to the final table had around that many chips, except for local Chrisanthopoulos, who started the final table with 6.8 million in chips (nearly half the tournament’s total).

The tournament was filmed by Fox Sports and will be broadcast internationally starting in March.
