PokerStars Sunday Million
The Super Bowl took a bite out of the PokerStars Sunday Million last night when the event’s attendance dipped back below 7,000 entrants. Despite the big game, 6,266 entrants bought in to generate a prize pool of $1,253,200 and a first-place prize of $180,000 (if no deals were made).
The final table was relatively stacked, featuring more than a few players with previous Online Player of the Year-qualified scores already under their belts. It came down to VOLCANO360 and chris935 heads up. With no deal having been made, VOLCANO360 took out his final opponent to earn the entire first-place payday.
The final results were:
Full Tilt Super Sunday $500,000 Guarantee
Full Tilt’s Sunday major also took a hit last night due to the Super Bowl, but Full Tilt preempted the downswing by replacing its normally scheduled $750,000-guaranteed event with a Super Sunday $500,000 guarantee. The decision was a good one, as 3,048 entrants bought in for a total prize pool of $609,600.
When it came down to it, it was scatterbrain123 versus pleace heads up for the six-figure top prize. Pleace raked in the final pot to snag $109,000, while scatterbrain123 left the table as the runner-up with $66,000.
The final results were:
UltimateBet $200,000 Guarantee
The UltimateBet $200,000-guaranteed tournament had 800 entrants last night, down from last week’s record-setting 1,092 entrants and the first time in five weeks the event has required an overlay. Again, this downswing was largely due to the Super Bowl and thus is unlikely to carry over to next week, but UltimateBet had to fork over a $40,000 overlay to arrive at the guaranteed prize pool.
Sean4040 and Priit were the main benefactors of the overlay money, as they were the final two combatants in the tournament. Pritt eventually hit the rail in second place ($28,000), leaving sean4040 with the $46,000 first-place prize.
The final results were:
Bodog $100,000 Guarantee
Bodog’s $100,000-guaranteed event also saw a lower-than-normal attendance last night. The site had to put up a $37,900 overlay when just 621 entrants bought in. That was 243 entrants fewer than last week’s 864 entrants.
Marchant “CobaltBlue” Davenport got heads up with InstinKt in the event. InstinKt made the final table of the Sunday Million less than a month ago, eventually finishing in seventh place ($23,000). He was looking to take down the $25,000 top prize here to best his previous cash. He missed out on achieving that goal, however, when CobaltBlue took down the final hand. CobaltBlue collected the $25,000, while InstinKt left with a still respectable $14,300.
