GSN's World Poker Tour TV Schedule ReleasedNew Episodes Will Start Again March 24 |
|
GSN will start airing new episodes of the World Poker Tour starting Monday, March 24. The new season, the first to be aired on a network that isn’t the Travel Channel, with feature 23 two-hour episodes. The show will be aired every Monday at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Check local listings to confirm.
After spending five years on the Travel Channel, the network decided to let the WPT go. GSN, which hit a home run in the poker show business with its popular High Stakes Poker, saw the WPT as a natural fit for its network and aggressively pursued the show. The WPT will follow episodes of High Stakes Poker, making Monday a kind of TV poker night for the network.
Encore showings of the episodes will be also shown on Mondays at midnight and Sundays at 7 p.m. ET/PT.
GSN is paying WPT Enterprises $300,000 per episode and has dedicated $3 million to marketing the show. GSN is committed to the show for at least one season, with the option to extend its contract longer if it likes.
A new hostess, Layla Kayleigh, will join Mike Sexton and Vince Van Patten on the set. The first episode to be aired is the Mirage Poker Showdown, which was filmed last May. Four more tournaments will be filmed in the next few months that will be part of season six.
