In this "Strip Poker" series, Card Player covers the Las Vegas poker scene — on The Strip and around the city.

The Third-Annual No-limit Texas Hold’em Celebrity Poker Tournament to benefit Opportunity Village is this Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Caesars Palace poker room in Las Vegas, with first place being a seat into the World Series of Poker.

The tournament is open to the public and features a $500 buy-in with unlimited $300 rebuys through the sixth round. Check-in begins at 11:30 a.m. and the tournament begins at 1 p.m. For those who get knocked out before the rebuy period ends, a second-chance tournament will be offered for a buy-in of $200. The winner will get a seat at the main event’s final table. The winner of the main event will receive a $10,000 seat into the WSOP main event and extra cash.

During the tournament, PURE Nightclub will host a VIP reception as well as fashion presentation at a break in the event. Escada is set to give a sneak peak at its ‘08 spring line. Friends, family, spectators, and those who do not wish to play in the tournament but still want to attend the VIP reception and fashion show can gain entry for a donation of $50.

Celebrities scheduled to participate in the poker tournament include Ronn Lucas, Thunder from Down Under performers, Bobby Slayton, Robin Leach, poker pro Oklahoma Johnny Hale, Skip Martin, Louie Anderson, and others.

The charity at hand is Opportunity Village, Nevada’s largest private, not-for-profit community rehabilitation program. Founded in 1954, the organization now serves more than 3,000 people with intellectual disabilities each year through vocational training, community job placement, advocacy, and social recreation programs.
