The PartyPoker.com Sports Stars Challenge returns for its third year in London from Feb. 17-20 with 36 sports legends, including last year’s winner and former world snooker champion Ken Doherty, footballers Tony Cascarino, Teddy Sheringham, John Aldridge, Lee Sharpe, and Norman Whiteside, snooker players Willie Thorne, Steve Davis, and MarkSteve Davis plays at the Party poker Sports Star Challenge William, cricketer Mark Ramprakash, and darts champions Phil “The Power” Taylor, Peter Manley, and Michael Van Gerwen.

The format sees six £1,000 buy-in heats of six players with the winners of each progressing to the final where first receives £20,000, second getting £10,000, and third £5,000.

In a break from tradition, this year sees a standalone football-fans tournament of six players who won their way through via tournaments on Football League club websites.

A PartyPoker.com spokesman said, “We are expecting the standard of play to be very high. Many of the sports stars are good enough to play on the professional circuit. The strongest contenders look like the snooker players and footballers, but on their day there are so many players capable of taking this title down.”

The event is being produced for TV by Matchroom Sports and will be shown on Sky Sports later this year with ‘the voice of poker’ Jesse May being assisted on commentary duties by Steve Davis.
