The preliminary events at the L.A. Poker Classic are winding down, with only a couple left before the $10,000 buy-in World Poker Tour main event begins on Saturday, and they continue to draw large numbers.
Recent WPT final tablist and poker pro Jordan Rich and friend Craig Gray won event No. 21, a $500 buy-in no-limit hold’em tag-team tournament with rebuys. The prize pool climbed to nearly $99,000 from 115 rebuys. Rich and Gray beat out 89 other teams to win the first-place prize of almost $34,000.
In event No. 22, a $2,500 buy-in no-limit hold’em tournament, well-known online pro Cody “thugmoneymkr” Slaubaugh made his biggest live tournament cash. He outlasted 149 players to take home more than $101,000 of the $361,000 prize pool.
Kevin Song, a poker millionaire nearly three-times over, won event No. 23, a $1,500 buy-in limit hold’em tournament. The 93 entrants generated a prize pool of more than $153,000. Song received more than $46,000 for first. This was his fourth cash in the LAPC prelims.
The latest preliminary to end was event No. 24, a $500 buy-in no-limit hold’em shootout tournament. Jinyun Lin won all of his tables to win more than $42,000 for first. The prize pool came out to $145,000 from the 300 entrants.
