The Winnin’ O’ the Green tournament series at the Bicycle Casino in Bell Gardens, California, has grown from five events in 1990 to 23 events in 2008, and it kicks off today with its first two tournaments.

Event Nos. 1 and 2 are $300 buy-in no-limit hold’em tournaments. The first one begins at 1:15 p.m. Late risers or early event No. 1 bust-outs can catch event No. 2, which begins at 7:15 p.m. today.

Preliminary event buy-ins range from $300 to $1,500, and the poker variants represented include no-limit hold’em, limit hold’em, pot-limit hold’em, H.O.R.S.E., Omaha eight-or-better, seven-card stud eight-or-better, and a no-limit hold’em bounty tournament.

Winnin’ O’ the Green is also attracting the ladies, as both the Ladies Poker Association (LPA) and the Ladies International Poker Series are hosting events. The Luck Be a Lady no-limit hold’em LIPS event No. 5 is a $100 buy-in tournament that begins on March 2 at 2:15 p.m. The LPA-sponsored tournament is event No. 20, scheduled for March 16 at 2:15 p.m. and features a $500 buy-in.

In addition, event No. 12 is a $200 no-limit hold’em charity event (with multiple $100 rebuys) to benefit the Wildlife Waystation. The tournament is March 8 at 4:15 p.m.

The $2,500 buy-in no-limit hold’em championship event begins March 22 at 4:15 p.m. Mega supersatellites will run March 20 at 4:15 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. for a buy-in of $270. The series culminates on March 23 with the main event final table as well as a $100 buy-in Players Appreciation tournament, wherein $15,000 and a $10,000 seat into the World Poker Tour Legends of Poker main event is added to the prize pool.
