The first semi-final of PartyPoker.com Late Night Poker is broadcast in the early hours of Wednesday morning at 12.10 a.m.
on Channel 4 in the UK and Ireland and features the runners-up of each heat, including former champion Simon Trumper, World Series bracelet holder Praz Bansi, Polish television presenter Agnieszka Rylik, Marc “Mr Cool” Goodwin, UK poker journalist Maria Demetriou, France’s Pascal Perrault, and “Flying Dutchman” Marcel Luske.
A PartyPoker.com spokesman said, “The semi-final lineup is very strong. Every single player was desperate to gain the prestige of making the final of the event that started it all.”
The $5,000 buy-in event attracted 49 top players, creating a prize pool of $335,000, which included $90,000 added by the sponsor.
The event was filmed by Presentable, which first made the innovative show in 1999, and commentary is provided by Vicky Coren. The final is aired over two weeks on Mar. 11 and 18.
