Fifty of the world’s best poker players descend on Bay 101 Casino in San Jose, California, today as targets in the $10,000 World Poker Tour Bay 101 Shooting Star championship. There will, of course, be hundreds of other players in the event trying to felt the “stars” and pick up a bounty of $5,000 as they try to make the final table of one of the most popular WPT events.
Not even Wyatt Earp got paid that good.

As far as playing for poker bonuses goes, the Bay 101 Shooting Star doesn’t get much better. Knock one of the “shooting stars” out of the tournament and instantly win $5,000, as well as a t-shirt that with a picture of the player you just felted.
Also, the chip leader at the end of each of the first two days will receive a $10,000 bonus.
Last year, Ted Forrest, one of the stars, ended up with all of the chips and the top prize of $1.1 million by being the last of the 450 players standing. The final table of this event is usually loaded with talent, and last year was no exception. J.J. Liu finished second, James Van Alstyne fourth, and Bill Edler sixth.
