Last year, the Irish Poker Open featured a prize pool of €2 million (approximately $3.1 million) and boasted a field of 708 players. It was Marty Smyth who took home the $867,546 first-place prize.

Because of such impressive numbers, the guaranteed prize pool for this year’s event has been increased by  €1 million, making the grand total €3 million (approximately $4.7 million). Tournament officials anticipate this year’s attendance to reach the 1,000-player cap.
