Kentucky Derby Poker Championship LogoUntil now, the phrase, “racing off chips” was the closest poker came to having something in common with horse racing. On Saturday, May 3, the two sports will come together as poker pros Phil Hellmuth and Robert Williamson III will host the Kentucky Derby Poker Championship, a celebrity charity tournament at Caesars Indiana.

Taking place just minutes away from Louisville, Kentucky, festivities will kick off with a red-carpet welcome reception at 7 p.m., and then the $2,500 buy-in tournament will start at 8:30 p.m. Rebuys will be allowed until the first break, as well as a one-time add-on at the end of the rebuPhil Hellmuthy period.

The benefiting charities include the international Red Cross/Red Crescent Climate Centre, an organization focused on assisting communities affected by floods and droughts, the Health and Climate Foundation, whose goal is to help eradicate epidemics of Malaria and other serious diseases, and the Robby Albarado Foundation, a non-profit business established to help the homeless and financially less-fortunate people.

“I’m really excited to be co-hosting this event with Robert Williamson III and supporting such an important cause. The climate is changing, and the poor will be the hardest hit. Anything we can do to raise awareness of this issue and help save lives is important,” said Hellmuth in a press release.Robert Williamson
