Profits at Scandinavian betting exchange and gaming operator Betsson have dipped in the first quarter of 2008, primarily as a result of currency fluctuations, according to the company, and in spite of player numbers increasing.
The company made a gross profit of SEK45.1 million (€4.83 million) between January 2008 and March 2008 compared to SEK48.1 million between September 2007 and December 2007 — a drop of just over 6 percent.
For the same period in 2007, the company made a gross profit on poker of SEK46 million.
In the first quarter of 2008, poker represented 25.1 percent of Betsson’s gross profit, compared to 38.4 percent in the same period of 2007. Betsson is part of the Ongame network.
