PokerStars Sunday Million

The PokerStars Sunday Million resumed its normal $200 buy-in event last night (after last week’s monthly $500 buy-in version) with an almost round 7,001 entrants. That number meant a prize pool of $1,400,200 and a first-place prize barely falling below $200,000, at $197,000. This attendance was actually a slight drop from the entry numbers at the last $200 buy-in event two weeks ago, which had 7,176 entrants.

It eventually came down to Ben “ShankingYou” Palmer and Iron Henry, both of whom had outlasted 6,999 other players but were looking to outlast an even 7,000. The two struck a deal to chop the remaining prize money evenly, securing $133,421 apiece, and they would play for an extra $30,000 first-place payday (per the PokerStars chopping rules). Iron Henry proved to be as tough as his name suggested, and he took down the final pot to bring his total winnings to $163,421.

The final results were:

  1. Iron Henry — $163,421 *
  2. Ben “ShankingYou” Palmer — $133,421 *
  3. hobbybob — $70,010
  4. etushekki — $56,008
  5. jlost88 — $42,006
  6. Duffman08 — $30,804
  7. fiddski — $21,703
  8. redhookesb — $12,602
  9. ROCKHOUND23 — $8,261

* Payout reflects a two-way even chop at the final table, with $30,000 remaining on the line for the eventual winner, per the PokerStars chopping rules.

The Full Tilt $750,000-guaranteed tournament had it’s lowest turnout since its second-ever run on Sept. 9, 2007, last night when 3,546 entrants bought in. The event required an overlay of $40,800 to match the $750,000 guarantee.

In the end, it was LIAandTONYsDAD and billytk01 left vying for the almost $133,000 first-place payday. Lia and Tony will have to settle for $80,000 worth of birthday presents from dad, as billytk01 won the final hand to eliminate his opponent and snag the top prize.

The final results were:

  1. billytk01 — $132,788

Bodog $100,000 Guarantee

Eric 'basebaldy' Baldwin The entry numbers for Bodog’s $100,000-guaranteed event went up last night when 765 entrants bought in (up from the 675 entrants of the week before). Nevertheless, Bodog forked over $23,500 as an overlay for the event. The event was anomalous in that the first-place finisher would not receive the guaranteed $25,000 prize, as usual, but rather was looking to land $23,600.

Also atypical at the event was the star-studded nature of the final table last night when a ton of online poker notables made the top nine. (See the final lineup in the results, below.) It came down to a heads-up match of Eric “basebaldy” Baldwin versus Marchant “CobaltBlue” Davenport for the first-place payday. Basebaldy knocked his opponent out to pocket the $23,600 payday for first place.

The final results were:

  1. Eric “basebaldy” Baldwin — $23,600
  2. Marchant “CobaltBlue” Davenport — $13,600
  3. fackinamazin — $9,100
  4. Brent “Astrolux85” Roberts — $7,000
  5. Jeff “HB_HITMAN” Anderson — $5,700
  6. Rataveli — $4,500
  7. MrPVol — $3,300
  8. WillieHop — $2,200
