For the past few televised tournaments, viewers have seen Gus Hansen sneaking away from the table to talk into a voice recorder, often speaking in his native language. Many wondered what exactly the “Great Dane” was up to, but now, in his new book called Every Hand Revealed, it has become clear.
In 2007, the only three-time World Poker Tour-title winner took down his fifth international title at the Aussie Millions championship. He overcame a field of 747 players to win the more than $1.2 million first-place prize. After that, Hansen graced the cover of Card Player Magazine kissing his new trophy after his sweet victory. Usually, the detailed and specific road to one’s victory remains secret. The only clue fans get about the tournament either comes from live updates or televised final tables, but no one could know what the hands were like for Hansen in the early stages, his holecards in pots where he was bluffing, or his temperament after significant pots were won or lost — until now.
In Hansen’s book, he discusses his hands, mindset, strategy, and more during the entire Aussie Millions event. Hansen continues to prove that, in terms of tournaments, he knows what he is talking about. He recently finished second in the WPT Championship, boosting his total lifetime earnings to almost $5.7 million.
Hansen’s book, Every Hand Revealed, is available at the Card Player Online Store. He also writes a column featured in Card Player magazine. Archives of Hansen's articles, as well as his frequent blog entries, can be found on CardPlayer.com.
