Bwin Poker Revenues Up, Ladbrokes Down

Germans Boost Q1 Poker Revenue by 12.6 Percent While Ladbrokes Falls 2 Percent

Bwin, the publicly-quoted Austrian online bookmaker and poker room, today announced revenue from its poker operations up 12.6 percent in the first quarter of 2008 year-on-year to €20.3 million. This was an increase of 6.8 percent on the fourth quarter of 2007. Overall, in 2007, bwin had revenues of €74.6 million from poker operations.

The number of active customers playing poker at the site grew 22 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2008 from 224,089 to 273,410. Gross gaming revenue, which includes sportsbook and casino, amounted to €104.6 million, up 21.3 percent on the same quarter in 2007.

Meanwhile, Ladbrokes yesterday said in its interim trading report that net revenues for poker fell 2 percent “in what remains a highly competitive market”.
