The inaugural Latin American Poker Tour is now in Punta del Este, Uruguay, for the last leg of the tour. The event kicked off today, and it is a three-day $2,700 buy-in no-limit hold’em event.

The first stop of the LAPT was in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It drew 314 entrants, and Julien Nuijten of the Netherlands snagged almost $223,000 for first. Next, the LAPT went to San Jose, Costa Rica. Valdemar Kwaysser outlasted a field of 398 entrants to win the first-place prize of more than $274,000.

With the culmination of the Uruguay event, the first year of the LAPT will be in the books, having shown similar successful numbers as the other PokerStars-sponsored tours, the European Poker Tour and the Asian Pacific Poker Tour. For updates on this event, the PokerStars blog will be available under the tournament results page on CardPlayer.com.
