Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS) Event No. 10
With three FTOPS events in full swing at Full Tilt, the normal $750,000 Guarantee tournament took a short hiatus to make room for three championship events, the biggest of which was event No. 10, a $300 buy-in affair hosted by man in red Erik Seidel. Surprisingly, the event was only able to attract 4,985 entrants, which ended up being just 15 entrants shy of meeting the $1.5 million guarantee.
With a tiny overlay in place, the nearly 5,000-strong battled for more than nine hours, all gunning for the $259,440 first-place prize, before an eventual champion emerged. Notables Luke “IWEARGOGGLES” Staudenmaier and Steve “MrSmokey1” Billirakis each cashed in the top 60, and new Full Tilt pro Josh Arieh nearly went the distance with a 25th-place finish. In the end, Harlindo bested James “P0KERPR0” Campbell heads up to win his first FTOPS title and, more importantly, take home over a quarter of a million dollars.
The final results were:
In other FTOPS news, ryanbluf scored $121,184 for his victory in event No. 8, and Shaun "tedsfishfry" Deeb won $115,014 for taking down event No. 9.
PokerStars Sunday Million
The Sunday Million once again surpassed its $1.5 million guarantee over at PokerStars, attracting 8,236 runners who generated a total prize pool of $1,647,200. Nearly $200,000 of that was earmarked for the eventual winner.
Over 1,200 players finished in the money, including notables Scott “emptyseat88” Fischman and Scott “BigRiskky” Clements among a slew of online professionals. After nearly 11 hours of play, Dan “ziggy47” Bokesch defeated Daniel “puntnko” Kochan for the win and the top prize of $199,475.
The final results were:
UltimateBet $200,000 Guarantee
The $200,000 guarantee on UltimateBet played out last night, and once again, the field failed to account for the total prize pool. Of course, the 861 entrants weren’t complaining about the $27,800 overlay, either.
A little over 10 percent of the field, or 90 players, finished in the money, including notables Bryan “badbeatninja” Devonshire, Steve “gboro780” Gross, Jim “mr_bigqueso” Collopy, and Zach “crazyzachary” Clark. Finishing in 11th place, just outside of the final table, was none other than UB pro Scott Ian, guitarist for the band Anthrax. ShuMonyTonite would up scooping the final pot versus himagain23 to win the tournament’s $45,000 first-place prize.
The final results were:
Bodog $250,000 Guarantee
Bodog stepped up its guarantee last night from it’s usual $100,000 to $250,000. The end result was a bigger prize pool, but still about the same percentage of overlay as 816 entrants ponied up the $250 buy-in. The overlay accounted for $46,000, or nearly 20 percent of the total prize pool.
Notable online player Mark “dipthrong” Herm made the final table but fizzled out in fourth place. In the end, KILL_BILL took the first-place prize of $56,600 after beating jobless23 on the final hand of the night.
