The two events to take place last night in the PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) were a no-limit hold’em $500 rebuy event and a pot-limit Omaha event. Read the event recaps below to find out who the winners were, and check out the entire WCOOP schedule and results list on CardPlayer.com.

WCOOP Event No. 29: $500 No-Limit Hold'em with Rebuys

Thayer Rasmussen When PokerStars put up a modest guarantee of $400,000 for event no. 29, they must have been sure that it would be broken. But even they must have been surprised when 852 players rebought and added on enough to create a total prize pool of $1,260,500, more than three tijmes the initial guarantee. In all there were 1,011 rebuys and 658 add-ons.

A total of 132 places were paid and of those to finish in the money, only Noah "Exclusive" Boeken and Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier were able to cash for Team PokerStars. Grospellier continued his ridiculous run in WCOOP events, bringing his total count of top-20 finishes to six. Check out his online poker results page to get that list of results. Grospellier ultimately finished in 15th place, earning an additional $10,714.

Coming off of a win in event no. 27, Andrew "TheActionKid" Glogowski made another deep run at the final table, but ultimately fell short with a 13th place finish.

Adam Levy Interestingly enough, when play reached the final three tables, three Floridians gathered at one of them as they battled for the $211,133 first-place prize. Thayer "THAY3R" Rasmussen, Adam "Roothlus" Levy and Steven "PiKappRaider" Burkholder are all from the central-Florida area and cut their teeth online and in home games around their respected college campuses. THAY3R from the University of Central Florida, PiKappRaider from the University of Florida and Roothlus from both, coincidentally.

Rasmussen, short off his deep run at the WPT Borgata Poker Open, would ultimately bubble the final table in seventh place, earning $22,689. Levy survived to advance, but was the first to close his laptop in sixth place where he won $37,815.

Joining Roothlus at the final table were notables PiKappRaider, Greg "DuckU" Hobson, and Grant "grunter321" Levy. A potential deal was discussed when play got three-handed, but Hobson put an end to that when he could not agree to a by-the-chips chop and play continued. He was the next to go leaving PiKappRaider to face off against AceOfSpade11. Boasting a 2-1 chip lead, PiKappRaider flopped top two pair against AceOfSpade11's top pair and it was suddenly over.

Here are the final table results:

  1. Steven "PiKappRaider" Burkholder — $211,133
  2. AceOfSpade11 — $157,562
  3. Greg "DuckU" Hobson — $119,747
  4. isuckoutonu — $81,932
  5. Grant "grunter321" Levy — $56,722
  6. Adam "Roothlus" Levy — $37,815

WCOOP Event No. 30: $1,000 Pot-Limit Omaha

Isabelle Mercier As one of the last events before the WCOOP concludes, the $1,000 buy-in pot-limit Omaha tournament, event no. 30, drew not only a large field of 742 players but a stacked one featuring many of the game's best. The $500,000 guarantee was accomplished fairly easily as a total prize pool of $742,000 was assembled, $139,125 of which would go to the eventual champion.

Four members of Team PokerStars were able to make the final 12 tables compbrising the money including Andre "akkari" Akkari, Steven "stevejpa" Paul-Ambrose, Marcin "Goral" Horecki and Isabelle "No Mercy" Mercier. Mercier boasted the deepest Team PokerStars finish when she busted in 29th place, earning $2,597.

Other familiar faces to go deep included Adam "Roothlus" Levy, Tom "Hold_emNL" Dwan, Chris "Moorman1" Moorman, Noah "fouruhaters" Schwartz, and Michael "amrasaralond" Binger.

David "GRinDer444" Redlin made a deep run at the final table, but a bad beat at the hand of the eventual winner sent him packing in 10th place as the bubble boy. He earned $7,791.

Tim West The final nine were no slouches themselves represented by Tim "Tmay420" West and Will "potstabber10" Haydon. West got it in with top set of aces but his opponent, u_dirty_dog went runner runner hearts to make a flush and eliminate him in sixth place. West earned $31,535 for his efforts.

When play got three-handed a deal was struck, leaving out $10,000 for the eventual winner along with the championship bracelet that all WCOOP winners receive. Here were the terms of the deal:

u_dirty_dog: $110,000
iggymcfly: $106,203.72
salamandra24: $87,291.28

Shortly after the deal was finalized, iggymcfly hit the virtual rail when he doubled up salamandra24 and was later eliminated by him. This left the remaining two players nearly even in stacks. A short while later salamandra24 completed his comeback and defeated u_dirty_dog heads up for the title.

Here are the final table results:

  1. salamandra24 — $97,291
  2. u_dirty_dog — $110,000
  3. iggymcfly — $106,203
  4. Will "potstabber10" Haydon — $55,650
  5. phatman — $38,955
  6. Tim "Tmay420" West — $31,535
  7. DAVIDOXXX — $24,115
  8. Skjervoy — $16,695
  9. styroben33 — $10,462
