International entertainment company, The World Poker Store has announced the expansion of its Bar Poker League into the Netherlands. In a new agreement with Play It Simpel, the company responsible for the poker reality TV show “Poker Kampioen Van Nederland”, a Netherlands poker league under that company’s name will be converted into a new leg of the Bar Poker League, owned by The World Poker Store. Players who take part in the league compete for the opportunity to appear on the reality TV show.
The new agreement will also see the creation of another reality TV programme along the same lines as that of “Poker Kampioen Van Nederland”. This time, Play It Simpel will create a show from the Bar Poker League in Germany, where players will also compete for the chance to appear on the programme and be crowned The Poker Champion of Germany.
Chuck Chastain, CEO of The World Poker Store, said, "Our agreement with Play It Simpel is a springboard to rapid growth for The Bar Poker League in Europe. Adding an established and rapidly growing league in The Netherlands and a TV show to our German league, which begins play next month, will establish The Bar Poker League as the preeminent league in all of Europe.”
The Play It Simpel Netherlands league, which has been hugely successful throughout 2008, will be converted into The World Poker Store's Bar Poker League in February 2009.
