After just seven hours of play, the final table of the £5,000 pot-limit Omaha event found its winner. But first, it had to get rid of eight aspiring champions. Tomi Nyback was first to go, earning a tidy sum of £22,688 from the beefy £825,000 prize pool. After a rollercoaster ride of a tournament, one-time chip leader Jason Mercier’s reign was long over and he eventuallyChris Ferguson busted out in eighth place for £26,812.

Theo Jorgensen and his huge stack bulldozed their way through the final table. His first victim was Chris Ferguson after Ferguson pushed all in on a K Q 6 flop. Jorgensen called.

Ferguson: A A J 8

Jorgensen 6 6 5 3

Jorgensen was well decked out after flopping trip sixes, but Ferguson was still a threat with a nut flush draw and a straight draw. The 6 on the turn sorted everything out, giving Jorgensen unnecessary quads, for the second time on the final table, and the 9 river meant nothing, as Ferguson’s tournament life came to an abrupt end at the hands of the great Dane. He collected £33,000 for his performance.

David Penly was next to go, in sixth (£41,250), Max Pescatori’s end came shortly after, in fifth (£51,562), and Erik Friberg lasted to fourth place before busting out for £66,000.

The race between Sorel Mizzi, Eric Dalby, and Theo Jorgensen was on, and the finish line was a £218,626 prize and a World Series Of Poker bracelet.

Mizzi, on the button, bet out for 49,000. Jorgensen, on the small blind, called. Dalby also called from the big. Jorgensen checked the 10 8 5 flop and Dalby bet 147,000, while Mizzi leapt out of the way. Jorgensen called, and the turn came the 9. Jorgensen bet 270,000, Dalby shoved all in, and Jorgensen called instantly. They revealed their cards and the river came the 9.

Jorgensen: Q J 8 4
Dalby: A K 10 7

Jorgensen’s nut straight took down the pot and eliminated Dalby from the tournament in third place. He earned a hefty £84,562 for his efforts.

Theo JorgensenAfter some ups and downs and highs and lows heads up between the Dane and the Canadian, it all came to an end on a K J 8 flop. Jorgensen bet 100,000, Mizzi raised, Jorgensen went all in, and Mizzi called. Jorgensen held A K K 3, and Mizzi held A Q 6 6, and it was top set versus the nut flush draw.

Spectators cheered the final two on, Annette Obrestad screaming, “Heart!” from the rail, another shouting, “Seven of diamonds.” Jorgensen, on his last nerve, cried, “Pair the f***ing board!” The turn came the 2, and following the railbird's advice, the river fell the 7. With that, the event was over, and the champion, Theo Jorgensen was crowned, or rather bejewelled with a WSOPE bracelet. He takes home the hefty sum of £218,626 for beating 164 other players.

Things are getting interesting at the World Series Of Poker Europe, presented by Betfair, as Denmark sits on top of the country leader board for two wins thus far.
