All eyes were on November niner Ivan Demidov last night as he fought his way to become part of the World Series Of Poker Europe's final table. The Russian youngster crept out of the woodwork and into the spotlight recently and is fast becoming a highly respected name in the poker world. This year, he made it to the final table of both the World Series of Poker and World Series Of Poker Europe's main events, and is now part of a very exclusive elite.
Although many online players are seeing great success, there are many others who could be labeled as mere flash-in-the-pans. With this in mind, it is still hard to put Demodov's double World Series final table achievements down to coincidence or luck.
In an interview with Card Player after making the WSOP final table in Las Vegas, Demidov said, "I’m going to play a lot of live poker, because I haven’t had that much live experience. The tournaments I played in December and the Series are my only live experiences."
For such a newby to the felt, he is fast becoming respected among the international live poker community. Mercifully, he will not have to wait to see what happens in this event also, as he has just taken his seat at the WSOPE main event final table among notables such as Daniel Negreanu and John Juanda. Juanda starts the day as chip leader with 1,349,000 chips.
Whatever happens, this 27-year-old has proven himself as a worthy opponent, and is definitely one to watch in the future.
