Final Table Set - Grospellier Leads The Way

Print-icon

Bertrand GrospellierThe curse is dead! Even though Antonio Esfandiari, Daniel Negreanu and Ryan Fair were unable to survive the day after being chip leader, Bertrand Grospellier was able to not only withstand the six-player TV bubble, but finish the day on top once again.

After a long lull in the action, a short stacked Andrew Robl got the rest of his chips in with J10 only to see Joe Sebok with a dominating AJ. Both players hit their kicker but Sebok's pair of aces sent Robl home in 12th place, good for $53,290.

Hand-for-hand play lasted another few hours and finally a bad beat ending things when William Mietz's pocket queens cracked Jimmy Tran's pocket kings. Tran earned $53,290 for his 11th place finish.

Nam LeAnother bad beat started the final table's first elimination. Mike Wattel was all in holding pocket kings against Nenad Medic's AK, but the board came Q105J10 giving Medic the broadway straight and busting Wattel in tenth place. He earned $63,945 for his week-long performance.

The blinds continued to skyrocket, putting everyone in jeopardy, no matter how large their stack. After losing a pivotal coinflip to Olav Von Sachsen, Sebok made a move at the wrong time, getting it in with K9 against Grospellier's dominating A9. The board offered no help, and Sebok was eliminated in a heart-breaking ninth place. He pocketed $85,260.

Nenad MedicThe next player to go was Michael DeMichele, who had battled on the short stack for most of the day. DeMichele held AQagainst Medic's K2, but Medic paired his king and eventually made a full house to send the young mixed games professional to the rail in eighth place. DeMichelle cracked six figures for $106,580.

Finally, the last elimination of the night, more than eight hours after starting play. Von Sachsen was all in with A4 against Grospellier's pocket threes. A trey on the turn sealed Von Sachsen fate and he took home $133,225 for his TV bubble bustout.
