The fifth Ladbrokes European Championship of Online Poker is in full swing as the 16 money-added events continue to attract thousands of players aiming for a quick cash injection and a seat in the Poker Million VII semi-final.
The opening event last Sunday night say 21-year old Nick Heather win $22,000 for his victory in the $150 event. Heather recently came fifth in the Ladbrokes Irish Poker Festival where he collected $28,000.
After the event he said, “My first major win was in February of this year and I splashed out on a brand new MG ZR. Since then I have played and cashed in a few more games and am now thinking of buying another motor although the majority of the cash will act as my bankroll so I can play in the world’s best live tournaments. It is one of the best online structures and a really good tournament with lots of play in comparison to other tournaments."
Event three on Tuesday night was won after eight and a half hours of play by 'princessaces' – a West Lothian lady - who picked up a very tidy $26,097 for beating 283 players.
Edward Ihre, managing director of Ladbrokes Poker said, "The win is a brilliant precursor to today's schedule which includes the Ladies Championship tournament with $2,500 added which starts at 20.00 GMT. I suspect that this tournament will be one of the toughest in the schedule."
Last night’s ‘beat the team’ tournament, where all the Ladbrokes pros will have bounties on their heads, was won by eliman who topped the field of 498 to win $6,710 of the $26,840 prize pool.
In total at the festival there is over $2 million in prize money up for grabs across no-limit, limit, and pot-limit hold’em and Omaha games with both freezeout and rebuy structures.
