PartyPoker.com Irish Poker Championship 2009Players Prepare for First Major Tournament of New Year |

The PartyPoker.com Irish Poker Championship kicks off in the Radisson SAS Hotel in Galway, Ireland on Jan. 2 and will run until Jan. 5. The €2,000 buy-in will see many well-known names participating including Donnacha O’Dea, Marty Smyth, Padraig Parkinson, Ciaran O’ Leary, and Andy Black.
The Irish Poker Championship Tour League leader board which began at the Eglinton Casino in Galway on Aug. 1 and finished at the Red Cow Hotel in Dublin on Dec. 13 was topped by Jay Renehan (€5,000). EPT Barcelona runner-up Fintan Gavin placed second for €2,000, and Michael Graydon came third for €1,000.
PartyPoker.com qualifiers for the main event have been running throughout December, and so far 11 players have successfully obtained tickets for Galway. The €5,000 package includes the $2,800 buy-in, $1,000 spending money, and hotel accommodation.
