UltimateBet hosts the UBOC this week.UltimateBet officially kicks off its third UltimateBet Online Championship on this Friday as the site hosts at least one tournament of its series every day for the next 12 days.

The site has gone out of its way to attract lower-stakes players in this year’s championship. While the main UBOC schedule has events that range anywhere from $109-$1,050 to enter, the site has created what it calls the “Mini UBOC,” with events from $11 to $55.

UltimateBet says that in another effort to make its tournament series more accessible, it has done away with the $5,200 event that was originally scheduled for Jan. 11. In its place will be a $320 six-handed no-limit hold’em championship with a $300,000 guarantee.

"We've listened to our players, modified our UBOC tournament schedule, and repositioned one of our championship tournaments within reach of more online poker players," said Annie Duke, professional poker player and UltimateBet’s cardroom consultant.

The $1,050 UBOC championship on Jan. 18 will have a $1 million-guaranteed prize pool.

"With a $1 million championship event and a $300,000 championship event, our new UBOC schedule promises to thrill more players looking to be a part of the most exciting online championship series in poker," said Duke.

Among the more unique events in the UBOC are the pot-limit Omaha rebuy event on Friday at 8:30 p.m., the no-limit hold’em heads-up tournament on Saturday at 5:30 p.m., the pot-limit Omaha eight-or-better double stack tournament on Monday at 8:30 p.m., the H.O.R.S.E. tournament on Tuesday at 8:30 p.m., and a bounty tournament on Jan. 14 at 8:30 p.m. All times are Eastern Standard Time.
