Tom McEvoyTom McEvoy has been making a living off of tournament poker before many people were even aware that you could do such a thing.

This week, one of poker’s old-time legends stops by The Scoop to talk with Adam Schoenfeld and Diego Cordovez on Card Player TV. The Full Tilt-sponsored show features McEvoy discussing his 1983 WSOP main event win, how he first got involved in tournament poker, and the different strategies and tactics involved in tournament play, as opposed to cash games.

McEvoy tells of how he went from a relative unknown — the first player to win the main event off of a satellite entry — to a tournament specialist in a few short years. He also describes how difficult it was to explain that to his friend back home, saying it was “almost incomprehensible to people.”

Watch the entire video on The Scoop. Part Two of the interview will debut next week.
