Hard RockWhat do professional snowboarders and professional poker players have in common? They’ll both be hanging out at Hard Rock on Tuesday, doing their part for charity.

The Hard Rock poker room is hosting a charity poker tournament on Tuesday, Jan. 27 at 6 p.m. to benefit Protect Our Winters, a non-profit organization “dedicated to reversing the global warming crisis by uniting the winter sports community and focusing our collective efforts towards a common goal.”

The Texas hold’em tournament, which is $150 for advanced registration and $230 on the day of the event, is sponsored by Ollie Pop Bubble Gum.

“We are thrilled to have Ollie Pop and the Hard Rock Hotel step up and create an event to bring awareness to our efforts,” said Jeremy Jones, the founder of Protect Our Winters. “The idea of bringing our industry together for a night of fun, chance, and most importantly, education on what is going on with global warming and what we can do to help is great.”

The tournament is being held on the first day of the final Snowsports Industry Association show of the year in Las Vegas.

Several poker pros, such as Phil Hellmuth, Todd Brunson, Erica Schoenberg, and Roy Winston, have been invited to attend.

The event is open to the public, but if you don’t feel like playing but still want to help out the cause, you are invited to make a donation to Protect Our Winters.

The tournament will have rebuys, with the majority of the money going toward the charity. The winner of the event will win a seat into a 2009 WSOP event. There is also a raffle, a gift bag for each player, and several prizes throughout the night, including weekend mountain retreats and resort packages.
