|
Each player on the tournament trail has their specialty, the one game they can dominate at pretty consistently. Robert Golick has been able to dominate his specialty very consistently this year at the preliminary events at the L.A. Poker Classic at Commerce Casino. Golick won the first seven-card stud event, with a $300 buy-in to take home $14,077 in prize money. This week he won the second seven-card stud preliminary at Commerce. Gollick beat a field of 101 players in the $500 seven-card stud event to take home another $14,718 and prove his expertise at seven-card stud. He also finished second in the $1,000 seven-card stud prelim at the 2008 L.A.P.C.
Other highlights from the past week at Commerce include Jason Mercier defeating an impressive final table in the $1,500 pot-limit Omaha event and Nikmil Gera winning the largest preliminary prize so far in the $1,000 no-limit hold'em w/rebuys event. Gera took home $195,373 in prize money, and 960 Card Player Player of the Year points for the win. The major events start on Sunday, Feb. 15 when things begin in the $5,000 pot-limit Omaha event w/rebuy. Card Player's live coverage team will be there to bring you all of the action from that preliminary, and they will also be on hand to bring you live coverage from the $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. event, the $10,000 no-limit hold'em heads-up event, and the World Poker Tour $10,000 no-limit hold'em championship event.
