Wynn Classic Main Event -- Day Two

Remaining 12 Players in the Money

Print-icon

Wynn TrophyA total of 54 players returned on day 2 of the Wynn Classic Main Event, all hoping to make the money and possibly put themselves in position to make a run at the title. Although the schedule originally stated that the field would play until the final 27, the tournament was moving so fast that officials decided to play a full day of six levels in an attempt to reduce the number of days from four to three.

It took a little longer than that, but eventually the field reached the final 12 players and the money. Continue reading below to see how the Card Player live updates team chronicled the day's action.

Scott SeiverScott Seiver Accidentally Eliminates Himself, Jimmy Fricke Benefits

On a board reading K-10-8-K-4, Scott Seiver moved all in and Jimmy Fricke went into the tank. Eventually, Fricke made the call and Seiver said, "You win," as he slightly motioned his cards forward.

Fricke reveals A-Q high and Seiver explodes, saying, "Oh no, I had deuces!" Seiver attempts to flip up his hand but the dealer has already mucked them and the floor will not let him retrieve them. The tournament director comes over and asks the dealer whether or not Seiver's hand was ever tabled. The dealer informs him that his pocket deuces were in fact, never tabled and the floor instructs her to award the pot and everything Seiver has behind, to Fricke.

Jimmy FrickeAt this point, Seiver is livid. Screaming at the floor, demanding to see a supervisor. For a short while, he refuses to leave the table, pleading his case that he never mucked his cards. Seiver explains, frantically, that he was only moving his hands forward in an effort to show down his hand.

The explanation does no good and Seiver is eliminated, though not without trying to see some sort of supervisor on his way out.

Eli ShapiroEli Shapiro Eliminated

Eli Shapiro made his way to this tournament on luck. It was lucky that the Wynn was giving away random seats and it was lucky that Shapiro happened to be playing his favorite game of Omaha eight-or-better that day during the drawing.

However, Shapiro used pure skill to get deep in this tournament and almost scored a handsome payday in the process. Shortstacked, he made his move with pocket jacks and was racing against Cory Zeidman's A-K. A king on the flop sealed his fate and Shapiro was eliminated from the tournament.

Deciding to throw in a joke on his way out, Shapiro asked, "Why didn't they just cut my throat."

Shawn GlinesShawn Glines Eliminated

Keith "damurdera3" Ferrera raised to 6,200 from under the gun and Kyle Wilson reraised to 16,500 from the cutoff. Shawn "sprstoner" Glines then reraised to 45,000 on the button.

Ferrera asks for a count and Glines has 83,000 behind. Ferrera moved all in and Wilson got out of the way. Glines called all in instantly and showed pocket kings and Ferrera was behind with pocket queens.

The board rolled out Q8242 and Ferrera took the pot with his queens full. Glines is eliminated just short of the money in 17th place.

Danny NoamDanny Noam Eliminated on the Bubble

Danny Noam was short stacked and all in holding K-J against Q-J and J-9. A nine on the board was bad news for Noam and he was officially eliminated on the bubble.
