The World Poker Tour is invading the United Kingdom.
WPT Enterprises, Inc., has signed a deal with the new British television network ITV4 giving it exclusive rights to air the first two seasons of the WPT. ITV4 launches tomorrow (Nov. 1).
The deal will also give WPT Enterprises' online poker site wide exposure in the U.K. because WPTOnline.com will be the main sponsor of the reruns.
In addition to the WPT, ITV4 will broadcast the first U.K. airings of a number of series that originated in America, including Kojak, Crank Yankers, and William Shatner's Invasion Iowa.
ITV4 will market itself to a mostly male audience, broadcasting everything from movies to world-class boxing.
