Check out what Miller had to say about his accomplishments and how he is going to prepare to play in the 2009 main event.

Card Player: Tell me a little about your life outside of poker.

Jeff “DHopper4242” Miller: I work as a loss-prevention agent for a local department store [which basically means] I arrest shoplifters. I have three great children, two girls ages 10 and 7 and one boy, 14. I try to fish in one of the many lakes in the area whenever I get the chance.

CP: What was your first poker experience like?

JM: To be honest, I don’t really remember my “first” experience. I’ve been playing poker with my family since I was 13. I didn’t get into hold’em until I was in my late 20s.

CP: Do you have a story behind you screen name?

JM: Back when the Internet was new, I heard someone describe all of the different Web sites you could visit as “Dimensions” of the World Wide Web. I have a favorite series of books that I’ve read, and in those books the characters use a device called a Dimension Hopper, or D-Hopper. So, I adopted that as my online handle and have used it for near 13 years now.

CP: Are you excited to have won a $10,000 main-event seat in the 2009 World Series?

JM: I don’t think excited even begins to describe how I’m feeling. I’m not even sure it’s really hit me yet as to how big this is. After the game, I dropped a line to “Ares,” the winner of the first VIP Rewards event, and he said it took a couple of days to hit him. So, I’m fully expecting a brief episode of “unconsciousness” some time in the near future; I just hope there is something soft near by to land on.

CP: What was your general strategy going into this tournament?

JM: I wanted to be focused. I tend to get tunnel vision sometimes and lose track of things as a result. I would say I leaned toward playing conservatively through most of it, pushing a little harder near the end.

CP: How will your play differ when you play in the 2009 World Series?

JM: I’m not really sure. I haven’t played but a handfull of live tourneys, so, if anything, I think it would be to try and control any possible tells I may have. Other then that, just play the best cards I possible can.

CP: Are there any poker players you are excited to play with?

JM: I would love to sit across from Phil Ivey. If nothing else, just to see how I would do against that stare of his. And I would consider it an extreme honor to play with the legend Doyle Brunson.

CP: What are some of your other poker accomplishments?

JM: Not too many to speak of. I got the opportunity to play in a tournament alongside my father in which I made the final table and took home $200. Other than that, just a handful of online wins.

CP: How long have you played poker, and what got you interested in SpadeClub?

JM: Like I said, I’ve played with the family since I was 13. Any chance we got, Christmas, Thanksgiving, funerals, et cetera. We would sit down and play, always just nickle, dime, quarter stuff, a lot of split-pot games; just to have fun. My father, “SSD639,” turned me on to SpadeClub last Thanksgiving. He paid for my first three months of membership, and I’ve been here ever since.

CP: Do you have any general advice to share with our readers about succeeding at SpadeClub?

JM: Focus, patience, and whatever you do, don’t let the donkeys get under your skin.

CP: Do you think SpadeClub is a good learning ground for people who are looking to start playing?

JM: Absolutely! The uniqueness of SpadeClub’s membership system is the best for beginners: low cost, high gain.

CP: Anything else you would like to add?

JM: I would really like to give a shout out to my dad and all of my SpadeClub friends. Pack your bags, old man, we’re going to the show!
