Francaise des Jeux (FDJ), which operates the French national lottery, has signed a deal with San Francisco-based technology developer CyberArts to provide its online poker offering which will be established when French gambling is deregulated and legalised.

CyberArts already provides the platform for Gioco Digitale in Italy which began operating last year when online poker was partially legalised in Italy.

Ken Arnold, chairman of CyberArts said, “We are committed to having FDJ live with a fully-functioning cash poker site the first day of legal operations in France. And we have the technology and experience to meet the strictest of regulatory requirements.

“This is an exciting time in online gaming as a second wave of large trusted brands begin to provide gaming in new jurisdictions with government authority. There’s a real advantage to companies like ours that cannot only meet the rigorous technical requirements, but as never having been operators we’ve never run into any issues with licensing authorities.”

A “play money” site could be launched this summer ahead of legalisation to help FDJ build market share.

CyberArts provides the technology platform for SpadeClub.com.
