Royal Bank of Scotland, one of the UK’s largest banks, has told its online gaming clients, including poker operators, that it will no longer process gambling transactions to the Netherlands and Switzerland according to eGaming Review.

A spokesman for RBS told the publication that it had reviewed its policy to take account of regulatory and legal changes in the Netherlands and Switzerland but denied the decision had been influenced by its merger with Dutch bank ABN AMRO.

Earlier this year the Dutch government wrote to banks in the country demanding they block transactions to and from private gambling companies while the Swiss government recently announced it would lift its ban on online gaming companies and issue a limited number of licences to operators.
