2009 World Series of Poker Begins

The 40th annual World Series of Poker begins today at 12 p.m., with Event No. 1 ($500 no-limit hold’em casino employees). The first open buy-in event will begin at 12 p.m. on Thursday, May 28, when cards get into the air for Event No. 2 ($40,000 no-limit hold’em). This historic event, which marks the 40th edition of the biggest poker tournament series in the world, will also be the first live coverage event featured on CardPlayer.com this summer.

Card Player will bring you full live coverage from 15 of the largest events from the Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Marquee event coverage will include live updates, chip counts, photos, and full results. Highlights will include the $10,000 no-limit hold’em heads-up world championship, the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. world championship, and the $10,000 no-limit hold’em main event.

Event 49 ($50,000 H.O.R.S.E.) June 26-30

In addition to full coverage of these marquee events, there will also be level-by-level chip count updates for each event at the WSOP.
