Defending a title is no easy feat, and rarely done nowadays, but Boylepoker.com pro John “doesalrite” O’Shea now belongs to that category of players who have the determination and skill to do so. Last night, John O’Shea reaffirmed his champion status in the European Championship of Online Poker (ECOOP) pot-limit Omaha hi-lo event and took home yet another $25,000 for first place.
Sharing 15 percent of the action are four Boylepoker online players, after they came first (5%), second (3%), and third (2%) and knocked O’Shea out of a special bounty tournament (5%) on the eve of his double whammy. They collected $3,750 for their efforts.
O’Shea’s achievement comes at the same time as Thang Luu has (one year later) successfully defended his title in the $1,500 pot-limit Omaha hi-lo event at the World Series of Poker.
This victory is yet another to add to the collection under Boylepoker’s belt, which includes Peter Murphy’s remarkable success in turning $100 into $10,000 in nine weeks in his Multiplier Challenge; Boylepoker player “mmcgenius” and 49 others shared 5 percent of Marty Smyth’s Poker Million winnings via a freeroll which saw mmcgenius receive $9,800; and not to forget that O’Shea came fifth in the $2,500 no-limit hold’em event at last year’s WSOP.
Boylepoker.com will celebrate O’Shea’s success with a $15 + $1 no-limit hold’em freezout on Sunday at 8 p.m.. The site will also be adding $1,500 to the prize pool.
