PokerStars Announces Team Italia; Puchelli Wins IPT

Stefano Puchelli Wins Italian Poker Tour as New Team PokerStars Pro Italia Launched

Stefano Puccilli has won the first leg of the new PokerStars.com Italian Poker Tour in San Remo, beating Vittorio Meraviglia and taking down €120,000.

Meraviglia lifted €75,000 for his second place with Roger Hairabedian (pictured left) winning €50,000 for his third place finish. Enzo Nardotto got fourth for €35,000, Alessandro Speranza made fifth for €27,000, Giovanni Drago was sixth collecting €22,000, Luca Moschitta captured seventh winning €17,000, and Bruno Stefanelli was eighth taking home €12,000.

Over 250 players took part in the €2,000 buy in event including 37 PokerStars online qualifiers.

PokerStars.com used the event to unveil its new Team PokerStars Pro Italia which includes Filippo Candio, Pier Paolo Fabretti, Simone Ruggeri, Nicola Fedeli, and Elena Ichim.

PokerStars entered the Italian market last year when partial deregulation occurred and recently held the highly successful European Poker Tour San Remo which attracted 1,178 players.

Online poker is booming in the newly opened up Italian market.
