The Italian poker boom shows little sign of abating with online poker wagers up six percent to €200 million in May 2009 from €188 million in April 2009 according to new figures releases by state gambling monopoly AAMS.
The Italian market was partially deregulated last year and a number of big online poker companies moved in to offer tournament poker.
The success of tournaments such as the European Poker Tour San Remo has prompted PokerStars.com to launch its own Italian Poker Tour and the World Poker Tour to host its first event in Venice last month.
