The London Poker Championships were organised by the Grosvenor Victoria Casino, in collaboration with the first ever Unibet Open London. Ten days of poker festivities took place including satellites, before the £2,500 main event kicked off last Thurs., Jul. 16.

The Open saw 266 players flock to the Grosvenor Victoria Casino for three days of action with the final table coming to a close last night, and it was Finn Thanh Doan who emerged victorious after all was said and done.

Doan started the day as chip leader and never once dropped the ball. He took home £187,000 after beating Arkady Kielman heads up. The ultimate hand came the second one in of heads-up play. Kielman raised to 50,000, Doan called, and the flop came 8Club Suit 6Heart Suit 4Heart Suit. Doan checked, Kielman bet 100,000 and Doan shoved all in. After a few minutes Kielman called and showed top pair with QHeart Suit 8Diamond Suit. Doan revealed second pair and an inside straight draw with 6Spade Suit 5Club Suit. The turn was nice to Doan in the shape of the 6Diamond Suit and although the river was good to Kielman with a queen, it wasn’t enough to beat Doan’s trips. Kielman’s runner-up finish earned him £122,500.

The final payouts were:

1st place (£187,000) – Thanh Doan
2nd place (£122,500) – Arkady Kielman
3rd place(£79,000) – Sam Phomveha
4th place (£52,000) – Konstantine Can
5th place (£38,500) – Dan Murariu
6th place (£32,000) – Rafal Arendt
7th place (£25,500) – Thierry Bolleret
8th place (£18,500) – Mohamed Muse
9th place (£13,500) – Marek Sokol

Familiar names who cashed outside the final table include Sam Trickett who took home £10,000 for the final table bubble; Peter Gould in 22nd place for £5,000; Jeppe Nielsen in 16th place, also for £5,000; and Ketul Nathwani in 24th place for £4,000.
