The Irish Classic Poker Festival main event gets underway today at the Macau Sporting Club, Cork. The €100,000 guaranteed €1,000 + €100 buy-in three-day main event will see around 150 players take to the felt.
Last year, it was Rob Taylor who triumphed after beating a field of 169 including Annette Obrestad, Michael Greco, Roy Brindley, Marty Smyth, Sylvester Geoghegan, and Jeff Duval. Taylor took home €46,000 for his efforts.
This year, up to 200 players are anticipated.
Numerous other card rooms will be holding satellites also including the Fitzwilliam Club, Emerald Casino in Clondalkin, JP Poker, Fortune Rooms, Gold Club, Atlantis Casino, Eglington Casino, Fitzpatricks of Limerick, Olympus in Waterford, and Cue Club in Killarney.
Players who register for the Irish Poker Classic will automatically be entered into the Free Million Dollar Game freeroll, the winner of which gets to go to London and play for a $1 million first prize against 17 others at the World Series of Poker Europe.
