Unibet Poker Grows 9.5 Percent in First Half 2009Poker Revenue Jumps to £19.4 million as Strategies Pay Dividends |

Unibet Plc today issued its interim financial report for the first six months of 2009. The company saw poker up 9.5 percent to £19.4 million from £17.7 million in the same period of 2008.
The statement was bullish and highlighted some of the successes of period. The company said, “Unibet Poker had a good quarter with good year on year growth. Unibet Open has continued to be extremely successful, with the Algarve tournament being the largest ever with 410 players. The “glocal” strategy continues with the TV show “Pokermillionos” in Hungary gaining record viewing figures along with numerous other territory-specific promotions such as the Unibet Series of Poker in Poland and Unibet Masters in the Czech Republic.
The company also recently held the successful Unibet Open London poker tournament.
Of the non-sports betting gross winnings in the second quarter, poker represents about 25 per cent. Poker revenue figures in the second quarter compared well to the 8 percent fall in the first quarter.
