Caesars Cup Captains Add to Their Poker Team RostersDaniel Negreanu and Annette Obrestad Recruit Big Names |

Charged with the task of making the best possible eight-person teams, captains Daniel Negreanu (pictured left) and Annette Obrestad (pictured below right) have responded in a big way, scoring the likes of Doyle Brunson, Jennifer Harman, Patrik Anontius, and Ilari Sahamies for their rosters.
The Caesars Cup tournament will take place on Friday, Sept. 25 at 10 a.m. in London’s Casino at the Empire during the World Series of Poker Europe. The event is a made-for-television special that will air on ESPN around the world.
Each team will square off in a series of heads-up no-limit hold’em matches to determine which squad, the Americas or the Europeans, will come out on top. It may seem like a straight-forward affair, but this team format offers up a slight twist to this particular variation of poker.
The first set of matches will be a doubles competition. Two players from each side will alternate betting rounds. They will share the same chip stack as one player handles preflop and turn decisions, while the other is responsible for flop and river decisions.
The second set of matches is also a doubles competition, but each player will be responsible for two hands at a time, allowing both teammates to share the burden of playing both on the button and out of position.
Each match is worth 1 point and the first team to score 4 points wins the competition.
Here is a look at each team so far:
Americas | Europeans |
Daniel Negreanu | Annette Obrestad |
Phil Ivey | Peter Eastgate |
Phil Hellmuth | Dario Minieri |
John Juanda | Bertrand Grospellier |
Doyle Brunson | Patrik Antonius |
Jennifer Harman | Ilari Sahamies |
