Tournament pro Mike Sowers has been tearing up both the live and online circuit since his first World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) win in 2007. Since then, Sowers has amassed more than $3 million in combined live and online winnings, making final tables on both the World Poker Tour and at the World Series of Poker.
Sowers has proven to be one of the most well-rounded players of 2009. He currently sits in 20th in Card Player’s Player of the Year race and 45th in the Online Player of the Year race. If those rankings were averaged out, Sowers would be considered the best overall player in 2009 thus far.
This week, Sowers ponied up the $10,000 buy-in to the WCOOP High-Roller Event, and when all was said and done, he finished runner-up for $448,500 to Swedish pro “sumpas.”
Sowers joined us to talk about his amazing 2009 success, the WCOOP, and about his horse taking down the 2009 PokerStars European Poker Tour Barcelona main event.
