Online Poker -- Daniel Kelly Wins His Second WCOOP EventKelly Becomes Third Player To Win Two Events This Series |
|
Not only did Daniel “djk123” Kelly win his second World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) bracelet on Sunday, but he did it in outstanding fashion, coming from behind to win the $10,000 High-Roller H.O.R.S.E. championship.
The Villanova student won his first bracelet in event no. 2 and banked $53,410, in what was a razz tournament. This time around, he needed all five disciplines of poker and received nearly five times the payout, earning $252,350.
The tournament attracted a stacked field of 103 players and the final table featured one of the game’s most feared limit players in Matt “Hoss_TBF” Hawrilenko. Kelly weathered the storm and eventually found himself heads-up, albeit at a chip disadvantage.
The underage pro wasted no time, picking apart Ozenc “ozenc” Demir in the stud rounds and soon found himself with the lead. By the time the tournament reached stud eight-or-better, Kelly had all but locked up the victory thanks to complete and utter heads-up domination.
With his victory, Kelly became the third player this series and fifth all-time, to win two WCOOP bracelets.
