After participating in 20 regional Three-Card Poker tournaments throughout America, 250 people recently descended on the Rio in Las Vegas to compete for the championship prize of $1 million. GSN will show the world who won in April.

The winner also received a diamond- and ruby-encrusted bracelet worth over $30,000.

The Three-Card Poker National Championship Tournament will air on GSN Monday, April 17, and Monday, April 24, at 9 p.m. both nights.

Shuffle Master, a company that designs and makes card shufflers, intelligent table systems, and roulette chip sorters, partnered with GSN to air the championship. Shuffle Master also designs and markets casino table games. Three-Card Poker is one of its copyrighted games.

Shuffle Master's subsidiary Shuffle Up Productions and LMNO Productions teamed up to produce the show.

In Three-Card Poker, players compete against the dealer. Each player is dealt three cards face-down and must make the best poker hand with them. Hand rankings are slightly different from five-card poker: straights beat flushes, and the highest-ranking hand is a straight flush.

There are three wagers, which pay based on the rank of the hand and the ante. The dealer must have queen high or better to qualify.

Shuffle Master expects to hold 30 to 35 regional Three-Card Poker events throughout North America in 2006. Qualifiers will compete in the next championship, which will be held at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
