World Series of Poker Europe Main Event -- Day 3Card Player's Own Barry Shulman In Top Five of 36 Remaining Players |
|
Day 3 has come to a close at the 2009 World Series of Poker Europe main event, and 36 players remain from the original 334 who entered. When the field enters level 17 at noon local time in London on Wednesday, big names who will still be in the hunt include Card Player Player of the Year leader Yevgeniy Timoshenko, 2009 November Nine finalists James Akenhead and Antoine Saout, Ram Vaswani, Chris Bjorin, Andre Akkari, Tony Cousineau, Christian Harder, Liz Lieu, Steve Zolotow, Jason Mercier, David Ulliott, Men Nguyen, Daniel Negreanu, and Doyle Brunson.
They will all be chasing the players that ended the night in the top 10 as the field marches to the final table of eight players. The money bubble has burst, so no one will walk away empty-handed tomorrow. Everyone is guaranteed at least £21,142, and the eventual champion will leave England with £801,603.
Matt Hawrilenko leads the way with a large stack worth 701,500, but the top 10 also includes Arnaud Mattern, John Kabbaj, Peter Gould, Eric Liu, and Card Player publisher Barry Shulman. The 2009 WSOP Europe final table looks to become a final table with the star power to match the one that took place last year. Will there once again be a marquee champion in 2009 to carry on the tradition set by Annette Obrestad in 2007, and John Juanda in 2008? Follow along with the action tomorrow to find out.
