Steve GrossVery slowly and very quietly, Steve “gboro780” Gross (pictured right) has taken a nearly 1,000-point lead in the 2009 Card Player Online Player of the Year race. Gross made three final tables on the 11th, picking up a modest $30,000, but more importantly scoring 540 points to open up his lead on the competition.

Second place currently belongs to David “Sir Sands” Sands, who only needed a small 16-point cash to pass Shaun “TedsFishFry” Deeb in third place. The two are now separated by only eight points, but both are no doubt keeping their eyes ahead of them at the coveted position atop the leader board.

Chris MoormanChris “Moorman1” Moorman (pictured left) sits in fourth place after picking up two small cashes of his own. The UK resident has earned nearly $900,000 in OPOY-qualifying tournaments this year and is just 1,264 points away from the top spot.

Rounding out the top five is Jeremiah “Believer82” Vinsant, who has had a really quiet month online since winning the UltimateBet Sunday $200,000 guarantee.

The rest of the top 10 is represented by Jonathan “shipitobv” Delong, Joseph “hoodini10” Udine, Daniel “djk123” Kelly, Nicholas “GripDsNutz” Grippo, and Yevgeniy “Jovial Gent” Timoshenko.
