Littlewoods Poker World Heads-Up Poker Championship Update

Two Rounds Eliminate Some of Pro-Ridden Field on First Day of Championship

Albert IversenThe Littlewoods Poker World Heads-Up Poker Championship 2009 kicked off on Tuesday at the Grosvenor Victoria Casino in London. The £3,000 buy-in event attracted 42 players, creating a prize pool of £126,000, plus with only four semi finalists getting paid, the person who takes it down is due to get £65,000. The runner-up will go home with £30,000 and the defeated two will receive £15,500 each.

Many quality names turned up for the first day of the event but not everyone played the first round. Among this group were Marc Goodwin, Teddy Sheringham, Richard Gryko, Paul Zimbler, Sorel Mizzi, Stuart Rutter, Bambos Xanthos, Laurence Houghton, John Tabatabai, and Dario Minieri. Some of these players took on the winners of the first forced round of matches.
