Sometimes, bigger is better.
At least that’s what the Choctaw Casino Resort in Durant, Oklahoma, thinks. And poker players will likely have a hard time disagreeing after the casino kicks off a special celebrity tournament to help celebrate the casino’s $300 million expansion grand opening.
From Feb. 9-14, poker players will get the chance to play with a number of poker pros and celebrities who will be there to launch the new poker room. Six-time bracelet winner T.J. Cloutier, poker’s winningest female tourney player Kathy Liebert, and former world champ Tom McEvoy will all be on hand to celebrate the occasion.
The $300 million expansion helped revamp the casino, establishing a state-of-the-art poker room with a lounge and plenty of room for both cash games and tournaments. The casino will also host special celebrity boot camps while the pros are in town for aspiring poker players.
For the grand opening, the casino will also be giving away free cash — to the tune of $1,000 every hour — from noon to 9 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday of that week, while it will be giving away an incredible $10,000 an hour during the same timeframe on Friday and Saturday. And if you don’t like money, don’t worry — there will also be free cars.
Visitors can win a Lexus GS 350, RX 350 SUV, or a 250 convertible.
For the grand opening, the casino is offering special room rates ranging from $99 to $149 a night. For more information, go to choctawcasinoresort.com.
